Job Description

Job Summary
• Manages the purchase, installation, and support of network communications systems, including the hardware and software of local- and wide-area networks. Support, monitor, test, deploy, and troubleshoot hardware and software pertaining to local area and wide area networks.
• This role will support our modern branch networking needs so that the D365 project can run optimally. These needs include data service upgrades, branch hardware upgrades to support increased bandwidth requirements, WiFi for warehouse optimization as well as implementing network security policies to properly secure our branches etc.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
• Monitors data network system performance. Performs data network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose performance issues.
• Installs and configures hardware. Performs upgrades to hardware and software components.
• Orders equipment, prepares installation specifications, and monitors progress of installation for core and branch network infrastructure.
• Analyzes test data and recommends hardware or software for solutions.
• Tests and evaluates equipment to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems.
• Establishes network users, user environments, and security for networks being installed.
• Troubleshoots branch cabling and equipment issues.
• Provides users with technical network support.

Nature and Scope
• Typical Training/Experience
• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field
• Problem Complexity
• Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data.
• Autonomy
• Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor.
• Leadership
• May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.

Work Environment
• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable

Education and Experience
• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree in computer science or related field preferred
• 1-3 years’ experience in related field preferred.
